Formerly the Shooters Hill Players, the Shooters Hill Drama Collective was formed as a way for local people aged 16+ to share their love of acting, directing and writing. Since our formation we’ve produced and performed sell-out immersive theatre at Shrewsbury House, as well as a number of radio shows featured on both Maritime Radio and Radio Kent.

We meet every Thursday 8-9pm at Shrewsbury House, SE18 3EG.

Shrewsbury House

Shrewsbury House is a community centre run for the benefit of the local people of Shooters Hill, Plumstead Common and the wider SE18 community.

It has been our home for quite a few years and we look forward to performing our productions there.

Member Spotlight

Diana Hainsworth-Fraser

Diana has been involved in drama and amateur dramatics since childhood. At Nottingham Girls High School, she took leading roles in several plays, although, being an all-girls school, most of these roles were men - it wasn’t until nearly leaving that she finally got the opportunity to play a woman!

She went on to become part of the Newcastle University Theatre Society, (AKA NUTS). After training as a teacher of English and Drama, Diana continued acting in amateur groups including Camhayle Theatre Club in Cornwall, and the Bangkok Community Theatre in Bangkok. She has been in several productions of Shakespeare, including Twelfth Night (Maria) and All’s Well That Ends Well (Helena).

Diana is also a member of the Edward Alderton Theatre and will be appearing in their production of Rosenkrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead in 2026.

Her main focus now is the SHDC, of which she is Secretary, and a co-ordinator of the weekly meetings. She is hoping the Collective will be able to present her first full-length play, Ghosts in the Machine, in the near future, and she is currently writing another full-length play adapting The Canterbury Tales. Come and say ‘Hi’ at our next meeting!

Meet our members

  • Phil Gallagher

    Phil is a comedy-loving member and occasional scriptwriter. He has a deep appreciation for stand-up, sketches and sitcoms, but loves exploring new ideas in any genre – especially improv! Outside the group, Phil enjoys performing stand-up and drinking excessive amounts of coffee!

  • Janet White

    Janet has been a member of SHDC for around 6 years. She has performed in a few productions at Shrewsbury House, as well as having written 5-minute radio plays for the group to perform. She’s made some great friends at SHDC and looks forward to each week.

  • Diana Hainsworth-Fraser

    Diana is our Secretary and co-ordinator of the weekly Shooters Hill Drama Collective meetings. She’s been involved in drama since childhood, becoming a member of amateur groups from Cornwall to Bangkok. She’s also a keen writer with a number of plays in the pipeline.

  • Howard Lukk

    Howard is a writer/director for theatre and film currently working on his doctorate in Creative Media at the University of Westminster, where he is researching the effect of technology on theatre. He is now focusing his energy on making music, film and theatre, including a ‘Goth Opera’.

  • Carole Hilbert

    Carole is a relatively new member at the SHDC having never been part of an AmDram group before. She has a passion for the arts and has helped create costume and sets for a number of school productions, but this is her first foray into the acting side of things. And she loves it!

  • Lin Corbell

    Lin joined the Shooters Hill Drama Collective after being invited by a friend to one of their performances at Shrewsbury House. She’s since been in a couple of the group’s performances and is really enjoying it, having learned so much and feeling really supported by the other members.

  • Peter Breed

    Peter decided to get involved with group after seeing an immersive performance at Shrewsbury House. He’s since taken part in SHDC’s 1940’s and 1960’s immersive productions, a number of radio plays, and tried his hand at lighting and sound for Chekhov at the Edward Alderton Theatre.

  • Pauline Macklin

    Pauline has been involved in theatre all her life. In her twenties she belonged to the Morley College Theatre Group, but after a long break she joined the Shooters Hill Drama Collective. She’s written a radio play, ‘Mr. O’Brien & the Community Nurse’, which she hopes to perform with the group.

  • Victoria Tamaklo

    Victoria is a newer member of Shooters Hill Drama Collective. She has always had a love for performing and has been involved in Channel 4.0 productions, featured in film and in various comedy sketches. Victoria is excited to be a part of SHDC’s future performances.
